I enjoy various pursuits outside my professional portfolio including the violin, chess, volunteering, gaming, and travel. I have performed as a violinist in Texas, California, New York, Spain, and throughout China and Taiwan (mainly through an international orchestra that my father and I created once upon a time).
I have also attended dozens of chess tournaments throughout the United States, playing several unranked games against Alexander Shabalov (US Chess Grandmaster and 4-time US Champion) and other grand masters. My favorite chess games have been those played with family, friends, and the homeless (shoutout to Central Park, Chicago, Galveston, Harvard, and UC Berkeley).
I can't explain with enough fervor my love for volunteerism. Helping others and more importantly helping them help themselves is one of my truest joys in life. I have aided various groups and associations, but my lifelong partner has been Habitat for Humanity - going strong since 2003!
When it comes to travel, I like experiencing new places and cultures. Every meal, every conversation, every wrong turn is an adventure.
